Motel 6 Charles Town, WV

Stayed here Sat. March 2nd 2025, for the first and last time. The room was filthy. Sheets seemed clean. The carpet was gross. Scratches on the doors inside the room from animals scratching them. Toilet shower were poorly maintained and dirty. Water pressure poor. If that was not enough, first thing in the morning I awake to roaches in the bed with me. As soon as I got home washed everything that went with me. Cheap, yes. But I've stayed at Motel 6 all over the US, most are good for a short stay, this one wins as the worst.

For a budget hotel, I was completely surprised by the high standard of cleanliness of my room. On a weekend night near a college town, I was unable to find a hotel room just south of the border in VA. But this Motel 6 saved the day. I backtracked to Charles Town, WV. It's a huge hotel. When no one else had vacancy, they had the space. The outside areas are well-lit. I appreciate that this proprietor allows extended-stay guests which boosts housing options locally. Guests who prefer not to contend with the norms associated with extended stay budget hotels can stay at the Hiltons and Ramada Inns. There are cameras. I bring a fan for white noise because budget hotels come with noise. The check-in experience was so warm and friendly, making me feel like a VIP. I had the same experience upon check-out, being served by the proprietor. I don't know how they are able to keep up with the detailed cleaning I witnessed, which most hotels skip, when there are so many rooms! I'll stay there again.

What drew my attention to Motel 6 , I was at the red light and it looked well taken care of very neat. The office staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was very clean.No bugs of any kind. Air conditioner worked great. The bathroom was clean, it was dated ,however if I had wanted to pay 150 a night and get a new looking shower I would have gone elsewhere. I was traveling by myself , I felt safe,the parking lot was well lit . Shopping and restaurants close by. Also Did I mention the Staff ? It’s so important to feel welcome I couldn’t say enough about them. Both upon check in and check out. They keep the light on for you

During my stay at Motel 6, I was impressed by the cleanliness, comfortable amenities, and friendly staff. Convenient location, acceptable rooms, and they are pet friendly. I definitely recommend this motel. Pet friendly is an absolute plus. Staff is nice.

The room had all the basic needs necessary for a good nights sleep. The key cards would stop working constantly. Aside from that. Everything was great!!!

Our room was quiet and we felt safe. Our bikes weren’t messed with while we slept. The only downside was when we cleaned up spilled water, the towel came up filthy. We don’t walk around barefoot regardless.

I was happy the bed was comfortable, the AC worked, there were no bugs, the room was clean, there was cable tv, and there was a good hot shower. The steps up to the second floor was about 14 steps which going up wasn't bad but coming down they seem like they are slanted down slightly. There is also 1 extra step into the room. The bed cover was old and seen there was an old burn hole in it. The deadbolt did not lock. The sink towel rack came off the plate. The sink to me was not appealing as the rim was too high and it also drained the water slow. The water when rinsing my mouth tasted rusty. My room 323 was right above the office and washing machine room which some staff and people around the area was a little loud but they quieted down at midnight. I enjoyed that the rates were right and the location was near dining and the battlefields.
